About Bradley Langton

I’m a young keen railway photographer focusing on the railway scene as a whole, past, present or future. I was born in Bridlington and grew up in Driffield until the age of 21, buying my first camcorder in 2014 believing videography was what I wanted to do in order to capture and record the railway for Youtube. Laterly realising I took more photos on it than I did videos, I recieved my first photographic camera for christmas in 2016 which was a Fujifilm Bridge camera, followed by a Nikon D3300 DSLR in the following christmas and it wasn’t until I came across Abdobe lightrooms and experienced the power of editing that I knew it was what I wanted to do. I left college in 2019 and began my working career on the railway in 2020 with Northern, which allowed me to save and buy the Nikon D750 full frame camera which has been my camera of use to this day.

As I mentioned, whether it be past, present or future, I like to try capture everything, the railway scene is constantly changing and I refuse to look back in the coming years wishing I captured more. As well as this I have a passion for steam photography, and even though I’m too young to have experienced steam in it’s hayday, I’m always on the look out to utilise my imagination and bring history alive once again at every opportunity. In 2023, I moved into my own place in Blackburn to allow me to progress in my railway career, and I am now conviently located on the route to the Settle & Carlisle line, and Carnforth test circle, giving me access to mainline steam far more than I ever have before. When looking through my photography, you will find I use an array of photographic techniques and camera settings, and I never like to take the same photo twice, and I’m always looking to put my own spin on my images; when everyone else is up the hill, I want to go down, when everyone is stood up, I’ll kneel down and get the lower angle, when everyone is capturing trains in the sunshine, I’ll go to where it’s raining (okay, that might just be me being unlucky!), and you can see some of my results above, and if you want to see more, please see my social media pages where I’m most active; www.facebook.com/langtonphotography and www.instagram.com/langtonphotography_brad

I was happy to be invited to join the RPS after winning the first YRPOTY competition in 2022, and the image in my gallery showing an Azuma crossing the Forth Bridge was taken during a visit organised by Network Rail as a part of the prize for winning YRPOTY.
